The Name

DeeLight Crafts was formed not on purpose initially. The owner, Diana, moved from Malaysia to United States following her husband. They now live in a very small town in western North Carolina close to Asheville and Blue Ridge Parkway. It is such a contrast in life compared to how she used to live. She used to live in metropolitan city with massive buildings and millions and millions of people live in it. She used to work as Director of Digital Marketing in a prominent company that although it was a high paying position, it didn't make her feel happy with her life. 

The plan as she moved to US was to find job quickly based on her experience but it seems everything is calling her to just relax first, take a deep breath, to open her eyes and ears on what truly is more in tuned with her heart's desire.

What she does know very clearly is she really miss creating something with her hands. There is something indescribable about creating something by her own hands and seeing the happiness on people's face when they receive the crafts.  So because of her love for nature and animals, she started learning to paint animals in acrylic on natural wood and made several paintings for family members. It started with most favorite animals they can think of and their favorite quote to go with it. And then due to her being a huge dog lover herself (having 2 schnauzers on her own), she amassed quite good following for her schnauzers' (Snowden & Sergeant) instagram and then the ball started rolling when a super lovely "dog friend" Reagandoodle with his amazingly kind Mom Sandi promoted her painting in their IG story (love you, Reagan, Sandi and family). The orders started coming in constantly. 

 And now she is venturing to a different type of medium where it involves digital illustrations that can be applied to many types materials. She also produce illustrations that are not related to animals or dogs but for human portraits as well.

This shop is currently a one owner/creator/designer/producer shop. All design and printing of the materials are all done by Diana in the United States. So if you buy from this shop, you are helping a small business owner who will be so grateful with every purchase. She is a regular donator to animal rescue organization and will occasionally host a campaign to promote donation to animal rescue.

You may wonder why the name DeeLight Crafts?

Crafts means work or objects made by hand. None of the items in this shop are mass produced. She does not carry huge inventory. Most of the items are made to order, and when possible the item is personalized to the great desire of her customers. Every single illustrations are digitally hand drawn or using real brush and paint (for the acrylic painting).

Now about DeeLight, this name is carefully chosen for a few reasons...

First reason, it has representation of her name: letter D or "Dee" (from Diana).

Second, Diana's desire and purpose for her creation is to delight people with what she has created with her hands.

Third, the name also has some connection with scriptures that she wants to keep as a reminder that whatever she is doing, may it not be for selfish reason but for her to delight in the Lord and in return if He is willing, He will bring her the desires of her heart.
